JOB DESCRIPTION:
The athletic trainer's primary assignment will be UD Mercy men's lacrosse, with other sports as assigned. The AT will complete approximately 1720 hours of athletic training services at UDM; however, additional hours outside of the school for Henry Ford Health System may be assigned. The AT will effectively communicate with the other athletic trainers at UD Mercy, while serving as a liaison for their athletic department to Henry Ford Health System.
University of Detroit Mercy, founded in 1877, is located in Detroit Michigan. A NCAA Division I school, UDM is affiliated with the Horizon League. With an enrollment of over 5,000 students, UD Mercy Titans sponsor 17 teams: m/w basketball, m/w cross country, m/w fencing, m/w golf, m/w lacrosse, m/w soccer, softball, and m/w track and field.
*Experience: Looking for someone with post-degree collegiate experience OR strong lacrosse experience at any level.
Develops, implements, and maintains comprehensive health care programs for athletes and other patients. Under the direction of, on the prescription of or in collaboration with a physician, the practice of athletic training includes the treatment of an individual for risk management injury prevention, clinical evaluation and assessment, immediate care and treatment, and rehabilitation and reconditioning of injury or illness, or both. The Athletic Trainer is placed in various sites for provision of services including, but not limited to, high school/college/university, outreach programming, community events and engagements, and HFHS sites.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Completion of a CAATE approved athletic training education program or educational equivalent required.
- Post-certification Master's degree in athletic training or related field preferred.
- At least two years of related and expansive work experience in all aspects of athletic training or a combination of education and experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize delivery of services as needed.
- Adheres to community outreach or school policies, including but not limited to NCAA, NJCAA, and MHSAA while meeting expectations of community outreach programming.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Board of Certification, Inc. certified as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) required.
- Licensed as an Athletic Trainer (AT) through the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs required or obtained prior to date of hire.
- Additional certifications and credentials obtained in health care (i.e. CSCS, PES, FMS, CKTP, EMT) preferred.
