Your Role

The Safety, Envrionment and Health Engineer manages, and improves Atlas Copco safety, health, and environmental programs. The SHE Engineer is considered to be a subject matter expert for all safety, health, and environmental aspects at Atlas Copco. You will report to the Senior SHEQ Engineer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Responsible for certification of Atlas Copco ISO 14001 Environmental Management System andISO 45001 Safety Management System

  • Responsible for compliance with all safety, health and environmental regulations

  • Support sustainability projects associated with reducing waste, energy consumption, water use, and CO2 emissions following Science Based Targets

  • You will create SHE policies and programs, instructions, and training content.

  • Lead SHE Committee meetings, maintains meeting minutes, assign/follow up on committee action items, and ensure closure to action items occurs promptly

  • Lead improvement activities of the plant's safety, health, and environmental performance

  • Develop and track KPIs, and collect relevant data for input

  • Lead investigations of New Hudson site accidents, injuries, or near misses to determine root causes and to implement preventive and corrective actions.

  • Report or review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing to Safety Team and management staff

  • Keep up to date about current policies, regulations, and industrial processes associated with operations.

  • Interface with regulatory authorities (local, state or federal)

  • Be the site security officer managing chemical vulnerability information.

  • Recommend / implement safety features to reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and other hazards, including documentation, training, and enforcement of PPE requirements.

  • Ensure environmental and employee safety programs and training are up to date, maintained, and compliant with Federal/State laws

  • Other related duties as directed by the Senior SHE Engineer


To succeed, you will need

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Understanding of safety and environmental regulations in the U.S. including:

    • Stormwater

    • Waste management (RCRA)

    • Wastewater

    • Air permitting

    • SARA Title III Tier II

    • TRI Form R

    • MIOSHA / OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, etc.

  • Ergonomics and physiology

  • Emergency preparedness and recovery planning

  • Accident and incident investigation

  • Knowledge of ISO14001/45001 standards

  • Strong project management and time management skills

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with all levels of the local organization

  • Creative and practical problem solving skills

  • High energy level and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels and functions

  • PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs.

EDUCATION OR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in a related discipline
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant EHS experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Professional certifications preferred (CSP, CHMM, ASP)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (AS APPLICABLE):

  • Ability to move about the manufacturing facility
  • Occasional local, national, and international travel may be required
