POSITION SUMMARY

  • The Regional Operations Improvement Manager will work directly for the Assistant Director - Plant Operations to lead improved performance throughout the manufacturing organization. The position will be responsible for driving continuous improvement, cost savings, waste elimination, and value stream optimization. The position will assist the plant operations teams in identifying opportunities and will lead projects through to completion. The position will also be utilized to temporarily cover for the position of Plant Manager, in the event that openings exist.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Lead efforts to improve performance on existing plant operations
  • Lead efforts to identify and implement cost saving opportunities to achieve LTA targets
  • Utilize the following Lean Tools to drive continuous improvement:
  • Hoshin cell design, Kanban/Pull Systems, 5S, SMED, Work Combination, Standardized work, TPS, Value Stream mapping, Process mapping, etc.
  • Develop and implement SMED approach for Midway operating system. Institutionalize the program at all plant locations. Achieve maximum 15 minute changeovers on all press types.
  • Develop a systematic approach and lead organization to achieve substantial Press throughput improvements to offset growth and delay purchase of additional presses. Achieve MOS throughput objectives.
  • Develop and Facilitate Lean Tools Training for Plant Managers, Production Managers, Area Managers, and Team Leaders
  • Work with Plant managers and Production managers to develop detailed reports, specifying top downtime cause codes, performance inefficiencies, and the action plans to improve performance.
  • Identify and implement "new to Midway" technologies that result in improved performance and the elimination of waste
  • Lead Value Stream mapping initiatives
  • Potential for being temporarily assigned to fill open Plant Manager positions
  • Other duties as specified

JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • BA/BS in Engineering related field preferred
  • Strong leadership and project management skills and experience
  • Ability to work across multiple departments and levels of the organization

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Normal office environment
    • Normal shop environment, which includes travel to plant sites; use of personal protection equipment; hazards and conditions typically associated with a manufacturing environment.
