Job Description Summary

Responsible for a broad range of activities involving data collection, analysis and reporting through the design, development, and maintenance of various interactive university dashboards. Gathers and analyzes complex statistical educational data and disseminates information in a variety of formats to campus administrators and external reporting agencies to support management, planning, student success, assessment and policy development activities. Contributes to the ongoing data governance process and promotes and ensures data integrity and consistency across multiple data domains and reporting contexts within the University.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

1. Duties include collection, extraction, and manipulation of data from various sources; conduct statistical studies to interpret data and translate it into clear, usable, and actionable information; effectively visualize and communicate information derived from data to a broad range of campus leaders through interactive dashboards and/or reports to support the University's operational and managerial decision-making, as well as strategic planning processes; instruct users on data and system literacy; and perform required documentation efforts.

2. Provide ad hoc research requests from the campus community, complete various institutional/external surveys (i.e. U.S. News, National Science Foundation, etc.), execute data protocols, and serve as a liaison in ongoing data governance activities.

3. May participate on University committees and task forces.

4. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.

5. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

* Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems or in a similar technical or business-related field.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

* Proven experience with Business Intelligence tools.

* Experience performing complex analytical/statistical research analyses, modeling, and data visualization through associated dashboard and report development and maintenance.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

* Experience working with the technical and functional aspects of Ellucian BANNER.

* Experience using WebFocus, Oracle and SQL*Plus.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements)

* Demonstrated understanding of relational databases and standard query languages.

* Demonstrated working knowledge of statistical calculations (mean, median, mode, etc.)

* Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.

* Demonstrated ability to utilize discretion in releasing confidential information.

* Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new programming tools and methods.

* Demonstrated self-motivation and strong organizational skills.

* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.

* Demonstrated commitment to contribute to a safe work environment.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

* Demonstrated working knowledge of HEIDI, CEPI, and/or IPEDS.

Language, Mathematics and/or Reasoning Skills

Work Environment and/or Physical Demands

* Work will be done in an office environment where noise levels are usually low to moderate
