Description

Performs a range of clerical duties related to the support of operations of the unit including updating and organizing information on the unit; coordinating work within the unit and with other units and departments; reporting relevant information to the supervisor; and responding to inquiries and requests from patients, visitors and caregivers. Answers calls lights, transports patients and assists with ambulation of patients.

Facilitates communications among caregivers, patients and visitors to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.

Performs all clerical/computer functions to support patient care delivery.

Coordinates daily patient flow activities.

Stocks unit with office and medical supplies and prepares requisitions to maintain inventory levels.

Answers the telephone in a professional manner and directs calls or takes messages.

Faxes and photocopies information as requested by staff.

Follows established policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information.

Willing and able to demonstrate appropriate core competencies annually or as requested.

Executes clerical portion of physician's orders by performing duties such as calling for appointments, consultations and making requests for ancillary services.

Attends in-services as appropriate and scheduled.

Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Support the culture of service excellence throughout the organization.

Actively seek ways to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and participate in professional development opportunities.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Completes annual educational requirements.

Understands and adheres to Bell's compliance standards as they appear in Bell's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Assists nursing with ambulation and toileting of patients.

Computer and/or keyboarding skills required.
Excellent human relations and oral/written communication.

Qualifications

X High school diploma or equivalent X Required
Preferred: Successful completion of nursing assistant training program.

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.


X Preferred: Previous experience in health care.
