Job Summary:

This role is responsible for shipping customer orders in accordance with all company and customer requirements. The Material Handler will receive, sample, store and distribute raw materials, supplies, and package finished goods within the facility. Storing and managing waste and recyclable materials are additional duties to this position.

Responsibilities:

Role Specific Responsibilities:

  • Prepares, inspects, and ships all customers orders in strict adherence with company and customer requirements
  • Loads and Unloads trailers per DOT and company requirements
  • Ensure carrier safely enters and exits the facility, and ensure that carriers are aware of plant safety requirements
  • Receives in materials and supplies, generate labels based for customer shipments
  • Moves material, including finished products, in-process materials and raw materials from receiving/warehouse and production areas to approved storage locations
  • Takes samples of raw materials and other materials for analysis as necessary
  • Completes shipment preparation, receiving of materials and supplies, generate labels based on customer shipments, communicate with customer service and or carriers as needed
  • Packs and prepares sample orders as needed
  • Coordinates warehouse storage to facilitate location of items for shipping and production purposes
  • Helps move/relocate waste as required
  • Uses forklift truck to move and stack filled/empty drums or containers
  • Performs SAP transactions for all shipping/receiving needs
  • Completes other project work as necessary to support safe operations

Compliance:

  • Complies with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and arrangements
  • Reports all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents and near misses promptly
  • Acts in a safe and responsible manner at all times

  • Takes responsibility and ownership for own learning and development in the spirit of continuous improvement of both self and the business
  • Assists in the training, mentoring, and assessment of other team members

Qualifications/Desired Skills:

Education and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Additional IATA, IMDG, DOT, and Forklift Certification required

Experience:

  • 1 year of experience in a chemical or manufacturing plant preferred
  • Experience driving a Fork Truck
  • Experience with Emergency Response, warehousing, DOT, and general chemical manufacturing background desired
  • Experience wearing required PPE including safety glasses, hard hat, steel toe shoes, gloves, and a respirator

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and priorities
  • Self-motivated and ability to work within a fast-paced environment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills
  • Ability to execute strenuous, sometimes repetitive physical work such as lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 pounds, working outside in all weather conditions, climbing ladders, standing, reaching, etc.
  • Willingness to work a non-standard shift, weekends, and/or overtime required
  • Ability to stand and ride forklift for long periods of time
