General Responsibilities:

The successful candidate for this position will have expert knowledge of the automotive quality management standards and reference documents with a working knowledge of OEM requirements, AIAG core tools, and audit principles, procedures, and methods. The candidate will possess excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills to interact with members at all organizational levels. The candidate will be detail-oriented with strong organization/time management skills and operate effectively and efficiently with a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced team or individual environment. This position requires a willingness/ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Job Summary:

Quality Management Systems:

  • Function as QMS Leader for the site.
  • Ensure that required QMS processes are established, implemented, and maintained.
  • Support the implementation and integration of global/regional standards at the site.
  • Assist departments in the development of site documents.
  • Coordinate and facilitate Management Review meetings with top management.
  • Provide feedback and assist in the development of regional standards.
  • Support site and regional level continuous improvement activity including standardization, benchmark, read across, and lessons learned.
  • Lead special projects and support regional requests and compliance activity.
  • Provide QMS orientation training.

IATF 16949:

  • Function as site window person and audit guide for registrar.
  • Prepare site for IATF 3rd party audits.
  • Provide support during third-party audits including linkage to global standards.
  • Assist the site in the development and submission of corrective actions for audit findings.
  • Monitor site corrective action status and verify implementation and effectiveness.
  • Report audit results / corrective action status to site / regional management.

Internal Auditing:

  • Function as site Audit Program Manager, including the development and issuance of the internal audit schedule for the site and related supported locations.
  • Conduct audits as Lead Auditor, develop/approve audit reports, share results with site management, issue corrective action requests, monitor progress, verify/close corrective action, and work with site management to address open/past due items.
  • Report internal audit program status/effectiveness as part of management review.
  • Support compliance audits and cross-audits as required.

Document Control:

  • Function as a main document controller for the site.
  • Ensure site, regional, and company level documents are controlled and maintained per internal, customer, and IATF 16949 requirements and assist in the control of global standards.

Knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Expert knowledge of the automotive industry quality management with a working knowledge of OEM requirements and AIAG core tools.
  • Understanding of audit principles, procedures, and methods.
  • Lead Auditor Certification is required. ASPICE certification is preferred.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Experience with Project Management is preferred.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with computer applications such as MS Office and Outlook.

Education: A University degree is required. Preference will be given to degrees in a relevant field or industry.

Experience: 7 years + experience in the automotive industry. Preference will be given to experience in QMS and Internal Auditing.

*Job level is determined by a range of factors such as organization size, responsibility, career stage, and capabilities.

Working conditions:

  • Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds. Have the ability to work 40 - 60 hours per week. Late/early meetings may be required to facilitate meetings with other teams in other time zones. Travel: Up to 50% domestic and international travel may be required. Travel may include visiting customers, suppliers, manufacturing sites, and corporate offices.

Work Environment: Primarily in a professional business office with exposure to testing areas and periodic exposure to manufacturing environments.
