2nd Shift: Monday - Thursday 3:30pm - 2:30am

SUMMARY

The CNC Setup position is responsible for set up, operation, and adjustment of CNC equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Set up, operate, and adjust controls on CNC in accordance with specifications, production drawings, production procedures, and oral instructions.
  • Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions, adjusting machines as necessary.
  • Inspect workpieces for defects, and measure workpieces to determine the accuracy of machine operation, using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and height gages.
  • Assist with the training of machine operators to ensure the product meets customer requirements.
  • Perform minor CNC program edits, as required.
  • Act as a Quality Assurance for the Fabrication Department.
  • Assist in the training of final inspection personnel and, perform final inspections of parts as needed.
  • Examines documents, materials, and products to monitor work processes and assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications.
  • Record production data including volume produced, consumption of raw materials, and location of materials.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by overseeing employees make certain MIOSHA, safety rules and regulations are followed.
  • Must be able to interact in person with peers and managers
  • Must be able to handle high stress situations
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1 to 2 years of experience in CNC setup.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Certificate and/or training from a technical school with a focus in CNC. Haas, Mazak and Fanuc control experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Familiar with reading G-Code
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to organize and plan work processes.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines set forth in the production schedule.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequently lift, move, or position materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must remain in a stationary or standing position for the length of the shift.
