The candidate for this position within the industrial, utility, and renewable power industry should be capable of leading electrical power generation design projects as well as have familiarity and exposure to instrumentation and control work. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in power distribution, power generation, motor control, auxiliary power studies, lighting, grounding, specification writing, power system studies, relay settings development, scheduling, and cost estimating. In addition, the candidate will be expected to support marketing activities including proposal development in response to requests for proposals.

In the role of Technical Specialist, we'll count on you to:

  • Perform engineering assignments under the direct supervision of a licensed engineer
  • Design tasks involving judgment in evaluating, selecting and applying engineering techniques and procedures
  • Production of design drawings and construction documents through the use of computer aided design and other software
  • Preparation of design or quantity calculations
  • Preparation of specifications and contract documents
  • Coordination with other disciplines as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervising engineer

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in engineering or related field of study or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in the discipline to be supported
  • Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications specific to the discipline to be supported
  • Knowledge of industry standards specific to the discipline being supported
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • 5 years of electrical engineering experience in the power industry
  • Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with electrical design computer applications
  • Strong leadership skills enabling the candidate to work independently, as a lead on a multi-discipline consulting team, or as a lead on a small team or design group on a plant design project
  • Field experience, including startup and commissioning, experience is desired
  • Must have good problem solving skills
  • Position will include an expectation of less than 10% travel for meetings with clients and vendors as well as project site visits
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary environments
  • Experience working in an owner's engineering role
