Location: Hybrid - Lansing, MI Office

Purpose: The role of Lived Experience Subject Matter Expert (SME) is to infuse the Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS) with on-going support of an individual who has direct (lived) experience as a former child/youth in the foster care system. This role will report directly to the CCWIS Director so they can have input and influence on all the CCWIS modules.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide expertise to the development of the new Child Welfare IT System (CCWIS).
  • Serve as a key resource to all 5 product teams by engaging with product team members and attending regular meetings.
  • Provide real time guidance and scenarios to product teams so that IT tools are built with end users and foster children in mind.
  • Assist with written documentation of the CCWIS decisions and recommendations for all product teams.
  • Attend and support presentations and leadership conversations as needed.
  • Always represent the best interests of MDHHS and MPHI.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience or certification.

Experience: One or more years' experience as a child in foster care. Experience in IT or IT related field.

Important Skills and Characteristics:

  • Self-motivated and directed.
  • Comfortable with providing presentations, trainings, and technical assistance.
  • Strong organizational skills, and strong communication skills (verbal, written, electronic, etc.).
  • Works well with a range of professionals, system partners and public users.
  • Ability to use software applications (i.e., database, spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation programs) at proficient level.
  • Comfortable with providing presentations and technical assistance.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: May require valid vehicle operator's license to perform duties of the position. Travel within the state, as needed.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: No assigned responsibility.

IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: This position has a direct impact on the quality of services provided by MPHI to MDHHS.
