Job Summary

Leads a team to sell renewable energy products within DTE Electric’s MIGreenPower program to DTE Electric’s residential, commercial, and industrial customers. This role will include standing up a new sales team, developing and then executing the sales strategy for MIGreenPower energy products, and maintaining close customer relationships to maximize their satisfaction towards the MIGreenPower program. An integral part of the job is to collaborate with the market analysis and product development team within the MIGreenPower program to ensure the overall product development strategy is closely coordinated with this team’s product sales strategies and tactics. Also, critically important is understanding financial concepts and building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC), Regional Economic Development organizations, municipalities throughout Southeast Michigan, and large project developers throughout the region.

Span of Control : Manages team of individual contributors.

Key Accountabilities
  • Sells renewable energy products to residential, commercial, and industrial customers for renewable energy programs
  • Develops and manages sales strategies to maximize revenues, including execution of new sales goals and objectives for renewable energy programs
  • Benchmarks best-in-class sales strategies for renewable energy products and integrates best practices aligned with the company’s sales strategy and objectives
  • Utilizes regulatory financial knowledge to develop recommendations for pricing strategies
  • Manages relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the leadership team, customers, regulatory agencies, governmental organizations, and local communities
  • Oversees the development and tracking of key performance measures to ensure alignment with strategy (e.g., financial goals and customer satisfaction targets)
  • Ensures the accomplishment of the following core supervisory/management functions for a given group(s) within a business unit: planning, organizing, directing the performance of on-going activities and/or special/ad hoc assignments, staffing (employee selections, training, coaching and performance management, time entry), coordinating, reporting and budgeting
  • Leads the continuous improvement commitment and efforts for team, including designing processes, establishing quality and quantity standards and metrics, collecting, refining, adapting, and communicating best practices, sharing knowledge, and developing staff in a systematic fashion; uses process design outcomes to solve problems
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with 7 years of experience in marketing, sales, market research or forecasting, inclusive of 3 years of leadership experience in leading teams and/or projects

Other Qualifications

Preferred

  • Bachelors degree in business, marketing, management, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Master’s degree in business or a related field
  • Experience with business-to business and/or business-to-consumer sales
  • Experience in the electric utility industry, including in a sales capacity

  • Initiates new ideas and approaches; challenges practices and approaches with sound alternatives
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, issues, and projects, including high visibility initiatives that require innovation, teamwork, and planning
  • Proficiency with office software technology and applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, etc.)
  • Promotes an atmosphere conducive to the open exchange of new ideas, and alternatives
