- Job Summary
Under general supervision, performs difficult repair, alteration and modernization craft projects within their respective craft specialties. Is responsible for determining the skills required and estimating the employee hours, materials, tools, and equipment necessary to accomplish the work. Is expected to recognize occupational hazards associated with work in their respective craft specialties and to exercise appropriate safety measures.
Is responsible for recognizing and evaluating difficult and/or complex problems that arise during the course of a project and for taking appropriate remedial actions. Assists supervisors in making facility inspections to determine repairs necessary to buildings and equipment, and is called upon to advise and recommend to higher level maintenance employees procedures required to correct difficult and/or emergency maintenance situations. Utilizes current county-wide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.
WITHIN FACILITIES MAINTENANCE & OPERATIONS
Under general supervision, performs duties requiring expert ability in one of the following structural, finishing or mechanical building crafts: heating, or building operations. Utilizes current county-wide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.- Minimum Qualifications

At the time of application, applicant must:
1. Be a high school graduate or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Educational Development Test: AND
2. Have had at least four (4) years of full-time work experience in a position involving the use of skills related to building operations: AND
3. Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license. Out of Country driver's license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver's license before the hire date.
4. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification.
5. Successfully complete the six month probationary period.
