Performs a variety of relatively complex clerical duties of a confidential nature, where errors could cause some financial loss to Meijer, as well as performing work according to established procedures.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Audits weekly hours worked, paid time off, special pay requests (account charge-offs, bereavement pay, jury duty pay, etc.) and payroll deductions (United Way, union dues, taxes, etc.) Processing errors could result in some financial loss due to the overpayment of a team member.
  • Provides excellent customer service to team members across all functions of the company as well as external parties to fulfill payroll responsibilities.
  • Interprets and processes garnishments, including setup, balancing and communication with agencies and employees.
  • Performs duties of a confidential nature dealing with individual pay and personal information.
  • Audits computerized output to ensure accuracy of input and detect irregularities. Follows up on errors and problems.
  • Posts confidential information to team member records and performs other duties required to maintain accurate employment records.
  • Maintains balancing procedures of critical gross-to-net reports and assits Accounting in determining the cause of any discrepancies in balancing of payroll.
  • Assist with system report writing and report enhancements.
  • Assists with processing third party payroll.
  • Identifies, Leads and Implements continuous process improvements and projects.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years payroll experience preferred.
  • Workday Payroll experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of bargaining agreements and company policies relative to pay and benefit matters.
  • Keyboard skills to accurately and swiftly enter and update information. Ability to operate standard office equipment including copier, microfiche, PC, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize multiple systems simultaneously. PeopleSoft knowledge preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with persons inside and outside the Company to furnish and obtain information. Must have tact and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail to ensure all work is processed in a timely and accurate manner while meeting various deadlines.
