Role Summary: Reporting to the Purchasing and Pricing Manager, the Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for leading and developing the purchasing team. It will require providing direction and support for a group of buyers responsible for the procurement of products for over 50 branches in multiple geographies. The role will focus on developing people and processes to ensure efficiency within the department.

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Purchasing Supervisor position will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage and maintain relationships with suppliers

  • Analyze, monitor and improve supplier performance
  • Monitor and improve departmental and individual performance, including designing and implementing reports that will provide the necessary information; activities include, but are not limited to, on-time delivery, cost, late order and back order performance
  • Leads activities within the company that will improve the working relationship with the supply base
  • Coordinates with sales on supply issues
  • Communicate and confer with key stakeholders about procurement-related functions
  • Interview and make hiring decisions of purchasing team members
  • Support and back up the purchasing team with daily tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

What you'll need:
  • Experience: 3 years' industry sales or procurement experience
  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Analytics/Computer Skills: Ability to use standard office equipment, proficient with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel; strong analytical skills; must be able to understand and manipulate inventory calculations
  • Organization Skills: Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to multi-task and shift priorities as needed; ability to work in fast-paced environment; ability to prioritize, document processes and track progress; proven leadership abilities
  • Cross-functional skills: Self-motivated; ability to understand reporting and make quality decisions independently; provide excellent internal and external customer service
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization

Qualifications we prefer but don't require:
  • Experience: 5 years' electrical/industrial inventory control/supply chain management; experience working with stakeholders and leading peer groups
  • Education: Associate or bachelor's degree
  • Computer Skills: Experience with Eclipse ERP
