Sony Electronics Inc. has an opportunity available for a Sales Support Engineer within the Imaging Products & Solutions of Americas - Professional Display Solutions Group. This is a remote work from home position based in Chicago, Minneapolis ( preferred ) or Detroit , the Sales Support Engineer provides technical sales support to a territory comprised of 11 states (ND, SD, MN, IA, WI, IL, IN, KY, WV, OH, and MI) and Canada. You will be supporting Sony PDSA Account Managers, Sony Resellers, System Integrators, & their sales force. You will be providing support in the form of product demos, product clinics, and product training sessions, as well as, assisting the B2B Reps and Account Managers in closing sales. As an AV/IT Sales Support Engineer, a strong understanding of the various networks, computer operating systems, and computer infrastructures, in order to determine the best solution for our customers. Some of the products and technologies that you will be supporting are Professional Display products including projectors and large format LCD displays, PTZ cameras, direct view LED products, Digital Signage products, cloud based display orientated solutions and analytic devices including hardware and software. In addition, you will serve as subject matter expert on IoT technologies, Digital Signage, dvLED, and product applications within multiple market verticals .

Your duties will include providing in-person and virtual dealer product support, resolving technical issues with Sony products in the field, and ensuring that Resellers, Sales Reps, Distributors and System Integrators have all the technical material to meet their requirements, including the Dealer Service Department. You will also be supporting key customers through post-sales support, including making sure firmware and software updates have been installed on products; and escalating when needed to the Sony Service Organization when physical repair is deemed necessary.

Other important responsibilities in this position will include gathering information and providing feedback to Marketing & Product Management on Sony product issues and driving product challenges to final resolution. Additionally, you will be providing feedback to Product Management on competitive information affecting sales of Sony products. This will include supplying monthly reports on wins and losses of business and competitive information, acting as a liaison between Sales and Marketing/Product management. Lastly the SSE will be providing support for and attending regional and national shows and demonstrations, as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science; In lieu of a BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, must have a High School diploma or equivalent and 8 years of directly related experience

  • Strong presentation skills

  • In-depth understanding of computers and their operating systems such as Windows 10 as well as background in understanding cloud platforms and IoT technologies, Digital Signage, dvLED, and application within the Education marketplace

  • At a minimum, must have Intermediate skill level in MS Power Point and Excel--Must be able to generate and modify Power Point and Excel presentations to meet customer and sales requirements

  • Must be able to lift 45 pounds

  • Must be able to travel 80% of the time, as required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CTS certification is preferred, 4 years of related business in the AV Market working with a manufacturer or integrator is also a plus

  • DSCE, Comptia A+ or Network+, or CCNA are a plus

  • In-depth knowledge of all Sony AV/ IT products, their functions, applications, features, and benefits

  • Salesforce.com (SFDC) skills preferred as well

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $63,000 to $84,000. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for a bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare benefits (medical, dental, and vision), paid medical leave after three months of employment, a 401k plan with matching company contributions, vacation time, education assistance, student loan assistance program, eighty hours of paid sick leave time annually, and up to twelve weeks paid parental leave after six months of employment.
