The role is overall responsible for all aspects of engineering for the Virtual Tech team and tasked with investigating, originating, modeling, prototyping and validating future customer product designs
Leadership: Directly manage a team of 2-3 engineers and 1-2 CAD designers, overseeing assignment of projects and progress of work. Set clear expectations, assign tasks, and ensure the team's success in delivering high-quality results in a timely manner. While we do have an established Modine product development process, we recommend a more expedient scrum or rapid prototyping process for this team.
Employee Development: Focus on the development of your team members through training initiatives, mentorship programs, and performance management. Foster a culture of continuous learning and career growth. Provide guidance, mentorship, and foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, procurement, estimating, quality assurance, and sales, to ensure seamless coordination and successful project outcomes. Collaboration also extends across the ACA business units and regional teams as well as to other Modine verticals, and external partners (such as research labs, universities, and other technical component manufacturers). Foster strong working relationships and promote collaboration to meet project goals.
Innovation & Product Development: Develop new concepts, systems, components, etc. Determine design alternatives and optimize for cost, durability, performance, and/or manufacturability goals. Specify test requirements and analyze test results on assigning products to validate performance and durability of new and revised designs.
Technical Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including design/engineering specifications, project plans, test procedures, DVP&Rs, and reports. Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation for future reference and knowledge sharing.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines throughout the thermal management product development process. Promote a culture of safety awareness and adherence to relevant standards.
Communication skills (verbal, written and presentations), including ability to translate complex ideas into understandable insights and provide commercially-sound business justification to support executive decision-making
