The Active Directory Technical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing our AD infrastructure, ensuring its optimal performance, security, and integration with other enterprise systems.

This position works either a Flexible Remote or a Hybrid schedule. For the Flexible Remote option, the Team Member must be able to travel to the corporate office on an as need basis. For the Hybrid schedule, the Team Member must live within reasonable commutable distance to our corporate offices in (Grand Rapids) Walker, MI to be able to work in office M-W, and optional work-remote Th-F. Relocation assistance available to align with Hybrid schedule requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Give input to and help manage the product roadmaps for on-prem Microsoft Active Directory, Certificate Authority, and Hardware Security Module ensuring their alignment with organizational needs and objectives.

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of multi forest on-prem AD environment, CA, and HSM.

  • Manage Domain controllers, CA and HSM for multi-cloud environment (Azure/GCP) Monitor and identify and potential issues, provide visibility, and resolve any related issues related to these products, ensuring minimal downtime.

  • Responsible for resolving sync conflicts, upkeep of the environments, and ensure compliant with industry best practices.

  • Coordinate with vendors and third-party support providers as needed.

  • Stay current with the developments in IT Security, Identity, and related technologies.

  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to products, configurations, processes, and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with Domain controllers, Microsoft Active Directory, and related product management.

  • Strong knowledge of Certificate Authority, DigiCert, Secret Management, and HSM

  • Good understanding of privilege account management and AD Tiering

  • Proficient in creating GPOs and understand their impacts.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong sense of accountability to ensure systems are kept up to date.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with other technologies like Azure Entra, AD Connect, IAM, SSO, MFA Certifications in Microsoft technologies.

  • Experience in hybrid environments, integrating Exchange On-premise with Exchange Online. Knowledge of complementary systems like Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, etc.
