Job Purpose and Overview

The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the management, organization, and control of key projects from inception to completion, at one or more of Dawn's U.S. locations. Projects could range from new facility acquisition and build-out to redesign of existing manufacturing lines to improve efficiency, as well as the defining of detailed equipment specifications. The Senior Project Engineer is also responsible for maintaining project timing and financial control on all projects to ensure strategic marketing and sales impact. This position will coordinate with the site managers and appropriate plant personnel on the development of Capital Expenditure Request(s) to ensure accurate cost assignment.

This is a remote position with travel up to 20% of the time. We prefer a candidate that is located in the Mid-West to support the sites effectively. Relocation assistance is available

What will you do as a Sr. Project Engineerat Dawn Foods?

Responsible for the management of the capital project in the following areas:

  • Coach and manage project & plant engineers preliminary in project development including use of Cap-Ex Tools and Processes.
  • Assist in development of pre-project approval documents including project charter, project management plan, estimate and milestone schedule creation.
  • Monitor design progress and deliverables are met in adherence to established project key components.
  • Lead project scope, cost estimation and scheduling with internal stakeholders to align with project deliverables to coordinate bid package development and release for construction bidding and field execution.Select contractors and contracting methods based on engineering ways of working methodology.
  • Direct and execute installation, construction, and commissioning of assigned projects.
  • Manage and control project budget providing cost forecasts and cash flow projections through development of project cost and status reports on at least a monthly basis or as requested by project stakeholders.
  • Manage and maintain project milestone schedules with integrated detailed scheduling as agreed upon in the project charter.
  • Monitor processes for compliance with quality and GMP requirements in accordance with FDA and OSHA regulations.
  • Project leadership of construction management and plant startup assistance as needed to ensure successful project execution.
  • Evaluate, select, and issue contracts for construction firms through bidding and prequalification vetting processes.
  • Applies effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in all directions to multiple levels of experience.
  • Coordinates all aspects of Projects from design through final installation, in collaboration with Team.
  • Ensures compliance with Corporate Policies and procedures.
  • Ensures adequate thought is given to compliance with regulations at the Local, State and Federal levels.
  • Ensures resources are reviewed and maintained, reporting any issues immediately. Assists plants in their control of projects.

What Does It Take to be a Sr. Project Engineer at Dawn Foods?

Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or related field required - Master's preferred.
  • 8 years of experience managing capital projects with increasing responsibility and complexity in a manufacturing, industrial, military, or related environment.
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools.
  • Experience in the Food Industry, preferred.
  • MS Office, AutoCAD and MS Project
  • Experience with coaching and managing project & plant engineers

Compensation:$102,640 - $169,350 + Bonus Potential
