Job Summary:

Responsible for evaluating plant processes and configuring manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve safety, improve quality, improve sustainability, and develop best practices within the production process.

Job Responsibilities & Tasks:

* Use continuous improvement tools to drive out defects in the process and enhance overall safety, quality, and productivity, by collaborating with production teams, maintenance teams and leadership.

* Develop production, maintenance, and sanitation team members on the use of continuous improvement tools.

* Identify and execute safety, quality, cost, and process improvement projects.

* Deliver the production budget goals for yield

* Support plant innovations while working with plant teams, R&D and Corporate Engineering

* Create recipes to be used with the plant batching system

* Responsible for the plants operating systems and results. Coaches and develops the teams to improve results

* Manage and support Capital Projects

* Own and drive change management and process changes for Operations

* Provide technical support to the operating teams.

* Maintain and improve the technical and training documentation for the department.

* Responsible for delivering OEE and improving methods for collecting accurate data.

Safety, Morale, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Environment

Position Requirements:

EDUCATION

* A Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field is required, preferably Mechanical or Electrical

EXPERIENCE

* At least 2 years of manufacturing or co-op experience is required, preferably in the food industry

* Experience with PM Maintenance Systems and Project Management is preferred

* Experience learning and integrating new technologies

SKILLS

* Effective presentation, verbal, and written communication skills

* Understands technical systems and terminology

* Excellent inter-personal skills

* Proven project management skills and technical problem-solving capability

* Ability to work and manage within a team environment

* Ability to organize and prioritize actions to help meet plant objectives and long-term vision

* Familiarity with PLC's and instrumentation

* Possess applicable AutoCAD or MS Visio skill

* Self-motivated and can work independently with minimal direct supervision

* Willingness to work off-shifts or weekends as needed

* Ability to lead and teach others effectively

* Six Sigma Green/Black Belt preferred

* Knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools

PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

* Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

* Must be able to work a minimum of 12 hours per day and be on his/her feet for extended periods of time.

* Must be able to work in normal office conditions and in the manufacturing plant environment.

* Opportunity for travel to other Materne production locations or to vendor/contractor sites may arise but travel is not a strict requirement of the role.
