HOURS:

Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm and one late evening per week (10:00am-7:00pm with an hour break)

Advisors are expected to work on-campus until proficiency of the role has been reached and onboarding is successfully completed, at that time there may be opportunity for a hybrid schedule of in-person at the Campus and remote work.

JOB DETAILS:

The Financial Aid Advisor supports Herzing University's mission through administration of financial aid funding for the University's students. This role requires strong customer service and attention to detail. This individual may work directly with students, providing counseling and assistance on all aspects of the financial aid process, or the individual may work to package, process, and award financial aid funds. The Financial Aid Advisor reports to the leader of Financial Aid (Associate Director of Financial Aid, the Director of Financial Aid, or the Sr. Director of Financial Aid).

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Well organized with attention to detail
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1-3 Years of Title IV administration experience preferred

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Meet with new students to understand funding needs, provide guidance on completion of the FAFSA and required documents, and review eligibility for funding options including Federal Title IV funds, scholarships, state funding, and military funds.

2. Utilize financial aid software to review student documents and eligibility criteria to finalize financial aid awards.

3. Provide gap funding options to students and support students in determining the best option to meet their financial needs and support their educational goals.

4. Counsel students on financial literacy and wellness topics for the purpose of educating and encouraging responsible borrowing practices.

5. Manage a student caseload, striving to build relationships and support students in resolving all matters related to their financial aid funding.

6. Perform regular outreach to students requiring action including needed documents, loan acceptance, and past due balances.

7. Revise financial aid award packages due to updates such as changes in course schedules, approved breaks, eligibility changes, and other factors.

8. Troubleshoot disbursement rejects and resolve factors preventing timely disbursement of funding.

9. Dedication to continuous improvement especially in the areas of student satisfaction and accuracy.

10. Demonstrate all aspects of the PRICE of Success.

11. All other duties as assigned.
